Cricket for the whole Basel region
A1 Sports Club brings together players from Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Aargau, Zurich and as far as St. Gallen. Home is Chöpfli Athletic Field in Hofstetten-Flüh, a short drive from the city.
As a full member of Cricket Switzerland, we play at every level that matters. Our men compete in the national 40-over and T20 leagues. Our women play in the Cricket Switzerland Women’s League and its indoor league. A1 Girls gives young players in the region a team of their own.

Your questions, answered
Do I need to have played cricket before?
It depends on the team.
Women and girls: no experience needed. Our coaches welcome players of every level, including complete beginners, and someone will look after you from your very first session.
Men: our men’s squad is for experienced players with a solid cricket background, ready to compete in league matches.
Where can I play cricket in Basel?
At A1 Sports Club. We train in Basel (Primarschule Volta and St. Jakobshalle), Birsfelden, Allschwil (Bachgraben) and Hofstetten-Flüh, and play home matches at Chöpfli Athletic Field in Hofstetten-Flüh, about 15 minutes from Basel city centre. Players come from Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Aargau, Zurich and as far as St. Gallen.
Is there women’s and girls’ cricket in Basel?
Yes. A1 Women play in the Cricket Switzerland Women’s League and its indoor league, and A1 Girls is a team for girls who are starting out or already playing. Both welcome complete beginners; several of our players picked up a bat for the first time at A1.
Where and when do you train?
We train all year round: indoors from October to March and outdoors from April to September. Each team has its own training days, and you’ll find the times and venues on the A1 Men and A1 Women pages.
Let’s play!
