About the club

Built by the community, for the game

A1 began with a simple aim: to give people around Basel a place to play cricket, whatever their age or level. What started as a few friends and families sharing a love of the game has grown, in just four years, into a club with men’s, women’s and girls’ teams competing across Switzerland.

We are proud to be a full member of Cricket Switzerland, and our ambition reaches well beyond our own boundary. Club members volunteer their time on committees shaping the future of the sport, from international women’s cricket to the development of women’s and junior cricket in Switzerland. On the ground, eight of our players coach young boys and girls with junior clubs across Basel, helping the next generation fall in love with the game.

Closer to home, we open our doors to everyone. Through open days and community events in Hofstetten-Flüh, we introduce cricket to neighbours, families and children who may be picking up a bat for the very first time.

Everything we do is guided by three values: teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. A1 is run by its members, for its members, and every one of them plays a part in growing cricket in Switzerland.
